ILS 2213 Presentations

Each student in class is responsible for delivering a presenation this term, and you will have a choice of dates and a list of topics to choose from for this assignment.  Everyone will sign up for their choice on the first day of class.

PURPOSE:  THE PURPOSE OF THIS PRESENTATION IS TO INFORM AND EDUCATE YOUR AUDIENCE ABOUT YOUR TOPIC.

AUDIENCE:  YOUR INTENDED AUDIENCE IS A GROUP OF ACADEMIC & SCHOLARS (OR ACADEMICS AND SCHOLARS IN TRAINING) THAT HAVE LITTLE TO NO KNOWLEDGE OF YOUR TOPIC.

You will need to keep both purpose and audience in mind when developing the content of your presentation.

You may use Powerpoint, Prezzy, Google Slides, or any other method you like and you must present for a minimum of 15 minutes.

This may include a very short video (nothing longer than 2-3 minutes).

If you go over or under this time, it will negatively affect your grade.

Practice your presentation at least 5 times.

Your grade is based on the effectiveness of the verbal  and nonverbal delivery, form and effectiveness of introduction and conclusion, and the organization of the presentation, and you will be evaluated much like you would in a public speaking class.

RESEARCH
This assignment will require you to do some research using the library's databases only.  Do not use websites. You may not use information from the World Wide Web.  You must use a minimum of 5 sources and must include in-text citations on your slides and must make your final slide your works cited page.

You will need to provide a copy of your presentation slides to me via email before class on the day you are to present.

If you are working with a partner, you will also need to communicate with one another about this, or perhaps meet in person outside of class.
